III International Multiculturalism School has ended

Press Conference has been held on the occasion of the ending of the III International Multiculturalism School entitled “Multiculturalism as a lifestyle in Azerbaijan: national and religious values” organized by Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC) and Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the recommendation of Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Sevinj Murvatgizi, the employee of BIMC mentioned in the Press Conference that International Multiculturalism Winter and Summer Schools are one of the numerous important projects implemented by BIMC: “III International Multiculturalism School entitled “Multiculturalism as a lifestyle in Azerbaijan: national and religious values” with the joint organization of Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC) and Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the recommendation of Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, has been held between July 18-27. The participants of the Summer School visited multiethnic parts of Azerbaijan such as Gabala, Ismayilli, Sheki, Gakh, Oghuz as well as Nic, Lahij, Ivanovka, “The Jews street” in Oghuz. 31 foreign students from 16 prestigious universities of 15 countries including China, Indonesia, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Czech Republic, the Ukraine, Switzerland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Russia, Greece, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia and Yemen and 19 Azerbaijani students from 12 prestigious universities of Azerbaijan took part in the summer school.

At the end of the project Salomeya Lukaite, the student from Lithuania, and Dimitrios Asproulis, the student from Greece, presented “Young Friends of Azerbaijan” International Club that had been established on their initiatives. International students of International Multiculturalism Schools organized in our country up to now as well as the attendants of faculties of universities in 13 foreign countries where “Azerbaijani multiculturalism” lesson is taught will be the members of the mentioned club. This club will offer opportunities for foreign young people to pursue their education in Azerbaijan, will render assistance to conduct researches on our country and will make it easy for each member to learn the Azerbaijani language and culture. “Young Friends of Azerbaijan” International Club also has its web site (www.youngfriends.az).

After Press Conference, the official closing ceremony of III International Multiculturalism School was held.

Speaking in the ceremony, Academician Kamal Abdulllayev, the State Counselor on Interethnic, Multiculturalism and Religious Affairs, the Chair of BIMC Board of Trustees stressed that it was honor for him to convey the greetings of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic: “Organization of Winter and Summer Schools is the idea of His Majesty Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Azerbaijan Republic and Mr. President wishes young citizens of Azerbaijan to have more intelligent and bright friends in foreign countries.

During 10 days when III International Multiculturalism School lasted you visited different corners of Azerbaijan with local students from different universities of our country. Young people of the places where you visited met you. You even took part in a wedding ceremony in Nic settlement. Udi brothers shared their impressions on those meetings with me. Local media representatives followed you step by step. That’s why not only people around you, but also other Azerbaijani citizens you don’t know have been your friends. Your friends here will miss you very much when you return back to your home countries. We hope we can find ways and methods to make you meet your friends frequently.  

III International Multiculturalism School has come to an end. New variants and phases for our relations and new projects wait for us in the future. I want to express my gratitude to everyone that did his best for the success of III International Multiculturalism School- to the staffs of BIMC, Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Executive Powers of regions where the summer school was held, local residents and local media. Naturally, my special thanks go to the participants of Summer School participants. You came to Azerbaijan from far corners of the world with enthusiasm in the period in which the world experiences hard times because of the love to humanity, youth and multiculturalism in Azerbaijan. We were happy to see all of you here.

When I shared my impression on the establishment of “Young friends of Azerbaijan” International Club with my friends, they all welcomed the news with enthusiasm. We are hopeful about the future activity of this club.

 

I want relations built here to grow into eternal friendship. I hope to have more meetings with you both in Azerbaijan and in other corners of the world”.

Isa Habibbayli, the Vice-president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences characterized III International Multiculturalism School as a special event from point view of promoting Azerbaijan multiculturalism in the world.

Then Dimitrios Asproulis, the student from Greece, read the appeal of the participants of III International Multiculturalism School entitled “Multiculturalism as a lifestyle in Azerbaijan: national and religious values” to His Majesty Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Azerbaijan Republic. The appeal reads as follows: “We cordially greet you and express our gratitude to you because of the opportunity you offered to us to come to Azerbaijan, to be familiar with the ancient history of Azerbaijan and its culture, traditions and mainly multiculturalism in this country and  its being unique model for peace and friendship.

Our visits to settlements and villages such as Gabala, Ismayilli, Sheki, Gakh, Oghuz as well as Nic, Lahij, Ivanovka that are famous with their peculiar traditions, language and history, our meetings with residents of above mentioned places have made good impressions on us and we had unforgettable memories. 

In the meetings organized in the centers bearing the name of Heydar Aliyev, the Nationwide Leader of the people of Azerbaijan, we witnessed the love and respect of people to Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev who laid the political foundation of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan. Mr. President, once more we became sure that the policy you pursue with dignity contributes to stability, development by making all peoples living in your country loyal to the state.

Your order to declare 2016 “The year of multiculturalism” is a worldwide invitation to peace, empathy and truce. We are ready to support this invitation with great pleasure and to convey this message to our compatriots and friends in our countries.

From this point of view we established International Club under the name of “Young friends of Azerbaijan” to present information on current multiculturalism and tolerance environment in your country and Azerbaijani realities to the world community in a systematized way. This club will join all people who have sympathy towards Azerbaijan and will organize interrelated activities. 

Once more we express our gratitude to you on behalf of the participants of III International Multiculturalism School. We wish you success in your aim oriented and determined activities that contribute to stability and mutual understanding not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the region.

We want to make you sure that we will give information on Azerbaijan realities and multiculturalism environment where ever we go and we will do our best to promote peace loving Azerbaijan in the world.  

Then Azad Mammadov, the Executive Director of BIMC, and Oktay Samadov, the Executive Director of Knowledge Foundation, gave certificates and presents to participants of III International Multiculturalism School.
